IVF Clinic

An IVF clinic is a fertility clinic that provides in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and other fertility treatments. Fertility Solutions is a little different to most IVF clinics. We specialise in both male and female fertility, from investigation and diagnosis to advice and treatment.

What is IVF?

IVF is the mixing of sperm and egg in a laboratory setting to create embryos. These embryos can then be transferred back to a woman’s uterus to, hopefully, result in a pregnancy.

During a typical menstrual cycle, the ovaries grow and ovulate one mature egg each month. During an IVF cycle, a woman takes injectable medication to encourage her ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs. These eggs are retrieved from the ovaries during an egg collection procedure, which is performed under ultrasound guidance.

Once the eggs have been retrieved, embryologists will combine the eggs with the sperm in the laboratory. The sperm then fertilise the eggs to create embryos. The sperm may from a male partner, or a sperm donor.

Over the next few days, the embryologists will monitor the embryos progress, growth, and development. After a few days, the best-looking embryo(s) will be transferred to a uterus during an embryo transfer procedure to, hopefully, result in a pregnancy. Any ‘extra’ embryos of suitable quality can be frozen for use in the future.

Why is Fertility Solutions IVF Clinic different?

With correct prior investigations and optimisation of fertility, IVF can help many couples start their family. Unfortunately, we find that many couples are given IVF treatment without adequate testing and advice beforehand. At Fertility Solutions, we have sadly seen many couples that have had multiple failed IVF cycles without proper investigation as to why their fertility treatments have been unsuccessful.

No couple should ever be told that they need IVF treatment before they have had a full male and female fertility assessment beforehand. We find that in many cases, the male partner is overlooked, and his contribution to fertility is not taken seriously. This is completely illogical when you consider that 50% of all fertility issues can be linked to the male partner.

At Fertility Solutions, we do things different. We always fully investigate both the male and female partner. If any issues are found, we will offer advice and treatment options to enhance a couple’s fertility potential before starting IVF treatments. This could include lifestyle optimisation or visiting a urologist or gynaecologist for further guidance and support.

Having thorough fertility testing before IVF can be the difference between success and failure.
