At Fertility Solutions, as well as specialising in male fertility, we also work hard to ensure that same sex couples are supported throughout their journey to having a child.
This can be a very long journey that can be emotionally and financially draining, so it is important that you start it the right way.
Before you find the surrogate, it is important that your sperm is assessed to ensure that it is healthy and give you the best possible chance for a successful surrogacy. There are three tests that we use to assess the quality of the sperm and understand a man’s fertility potential:
- DNA fragmentation
- Semen analysis
- Semen culture
It is key that a man’s fertility is at the highest quality before going ahead with surrogacy as the chances of having a successful IVF round with the surrogate significantly reduces if there is a problem with the quality of the sperm.
If these investigations show up any problems or abnormalities, a consultant urologist and our team will work with you to improve or resolve the issue. They will help you navigate a tailored treatment plan if required; it will differ depending on the diagnosis and severity. Mr Jonathan Ramsay is a UK leading consultant urologist with over 30 years’ experience, meaning that he has some of the best knowledge and has pioneered treatments for male fertility patients.
Claire, our consultant embryologist, will discuss the results of your tests with you, once they have been reviewed by our consultant urologist, help you with the next steps, as well as looking and discuss the surrogacy process in the UK with you and how it will work for you.
